The biggest Honkai Star Rail update is almost here. The new version brings a brand new path, two powerful characters, and a whole planet to explore. After finishing the Amphoreus story, the Astral Express crew heads to Planarcadia for their next adventure.

When Does the Update Release?
The update comes out in mid February for most players around the world. North American servers get it on February twelfth, while European and Asian servers get it on February thirteenth. The update stays until late March. The game developers delayed the update by a couple weeks to make everything better, but players get free rewards as an apology.

A Brand New Path Arrives
For the first time ever, Honkai Star Rail adds a completely new playable path. The Path of Elation is all about comedy, drama, and chaos. Both new characters follow this path, and rumors say the Trailblazer will get an Elation form later.
The path connects directly to Aha, the Aeon of Elation, who shows up in the new planet’s story. Get ready for wild and crazy gameplay that matches Aha’s wild personality.
New Characters You Can Play
The update brings two new characters, and both are very powerful:
Yao Guang
Yao Guang is the first new character. She uses Physical element and helps your whole team deal more damage. She comes from the Xianzhou Yuque and works as the Seer Strategist.
What makes Yao Guang special:
- She creates special zones on the battlefield that power up your team
- She builds up stacks called Punchlines to make allies stronger
- Her big Ultimate attack gives extra Punchlines and lets her take another turn right away
- She helps all allies ignore enemy defenses better
- She turns normal attacks into bonus Elation damage
- She works great with other Elation characters but helps any team
You can get Yao Guang when her banner arrives in early to mid February.
Sparxie
Sparxie is the second new character. She uses Fire element and deals tons of damage. She looks like another version of Sparkle and acts like a content creator, similar to Guinaifen. She fights very fast and attacks many times.
What makes Sparxie special:
- She builds up and uses Punchlines to power her attacks
- She has an ability called Engagement Farming that makes her attacks stronger
- She can sometimes get Skill Points back when she attacks
- She keeps attacking over and over during battles
- She has amazing animations that look better than most characters
- Her skill animation shows a whole virtual battle scene
You can get Sparxie when her banner arrives in early March. Her animations look incredible and might be the best in the whole game so far.
Old Characters Get Stronger
Two characters you might already have are getting big upgrades:
Black Swan changes from being slow to being super fast. Her damage now ignores defense and she helps the whole team much better. She becomes way easier to use and fits into many more teams.
Sparkle becomes even better than before. She turns Skill Point management into extra damage for everyone. She gets much better at recovering Skill Points and gives huge buffs to the team. She now helps all kinds of teams, not just the ones focused on critical hits.
Planarcadia: A Whole New World
The Astral Express arrives at Planarcadia, a huge futuristic city connected to Aha. The planet has an amusement park that reminds you of places from earlier in the story. Aha invites everyone to play a special game with an amazing prize. Win the game and you become an Aeon for one minute.
Planarcadia has many different areas to explore:
- Duomension City is the main city full of bright neon lights and cool culture
- Graphia Academy is a big school campus for research and learning
- Dovebrook District is a quiet neighborhood where people live and shop
- World’s End Tavern is a peaceful bar under the moonlight
- Phantasmoon Courtyard is a strange place full of secrets
New Gear to Collect

The new Light Cones are very strong. Some let you hold more Skill Points than before and make Elation damage much stronger.

- A new outfit for Ruan Mei
- New full outfits for both male and female Trailblazers
- The Trailblazer outfits have quality levels, different from old skins
- These outfits look totally different from what we have now
Game Improvements
The update makes the game better in many ways:
- A helper tool that suggests good team combinations
- A guide system that helps newer players know what to do
- Currency Wars mode gets updates with new characters
- The level limit goes up higher in Currency Wars
- Harder challenges for expert players
- A new Expert Adviser feature
- A fun new mode based on rolling dice
